Gosforth Voices is a choir aimed towards children in Years 3 & 4, primarily from first schools within the Gosforth Schools Trust. It’s a fantastic way to make new friends from other schools, develop confidence in singing and learn new songs.
Each session starts with a vocal warm-up designed both to develop the voice and have fun! We work together to learn a number of songs over the year using different styles of music which include opportunities for solo parts, group leading, round/part songs and harmony singing. We prepare for a number of public performances during the year too.
The Band
Gosforth Band is a mixed instrumental ensemble designed for children from Year 3 up to Year 8, primarily from first and middle schools within the Gosforth Schools Trust. It’s open to complete beginners right through to experienced players. We get together to learn new pieces and develop as musicians, gaining valuable musicianship skills and a good sense of ensemble.
We rehearse around ten pieces each year, working towards our annual MPN Big Gig performance in June. Young people are given copies of sheet music for their parts and have access to backing tracks using our digital platform. Musicians are develop or consolidate music notation reading, sight reading skills and gain a further insight into music theory. Rehearsals are dynamic and fun!
